Energy Engineering Hatha Yoga

Yoga is all about Energy..

I would like to share with you a few interesting insights about yoga practice. First, let's review the knowledge about Asana. Asana is a physical position.

We practice Asana to clear energy pathways and remove blockages from the body and mind. It is a way to "shake" the life force within the body in a very intelligent way.

On the other hand, Asana - a posture is a tool to stabilize both body and mind, so the mind is stable.

Moreover, Asana helps us achieve various goals of the practice. For example, when we do many forward bends with deep belly breathing, it tends to calm the mind. When we do many chest opening poses with chest breathing, it tends to activate the mind.

It is interesting that classical Hatha yoga does not categorize poses like “new age yoga”: sitting, standing, balancing, strengthening the core, opening the chest, etc., etc. - nothing against that!

Classical Hatha yoga categorizes poses in this way:

  • forward bends - MOON calming - parasympathetic NS

  • twists - MOON stabilizing - parasympathetic NS

  • backbends - SUN activating - sympathetic NS

  • lateral positions - SUN activating - sympathetic NS

  • extensions - More SUN activating, can be MOON also

  • inversions - MOON / SUN - parasympathetic NS

Yes, that's it! In Hatha yoga, we want to sensitize ourselves to a great extent and work with energy.

This classification of yoga poses allows us to understand the flow of energy and the influence of the poses.

When the Moon is steady, the Sun can Rise..

All categories affect our energy in different ways. Each pose category has a specific effect on the mind and body.

A systematic approach and good yoga is the key to balanced yoga practice.

Practicing an intelligent sequence of asanas that have a specific order directs the energy to the goal of the practice and thus to the object of meditation.

The Asana is an intelligent preparation for the Body and Mind.
